According to the prediction of China Automotive Technology and Research Center, combined with factors such as automobile scrap years and power battery life, from 2018 to 2020, the total number of scrapped power batteries in the country will reach 120,000-200,000 tons; by 2025, the annual waste of power batteries will reach 35 10,000 tons of scale.
Lithium-ion power battery recycling includes cascade utilization and resource recycling. The cascade utilization is to transform the vehicle power battery with the capacity down to 80% or less. In the field of energy storage, the resource recycling is performed on the depleted power battery. Recycling, dismantling and smelting to realize the recycling of resources such as nickel, cobalt and lithium.
In response to the recycling of used batteries, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued relevant documents in January 2018, and issued the “Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Vehicles' Power Battery”, requiring automobile manufacturers to establish power battery recycling channels and be responsible for recycling new energy vehicles. And used power batteries after scrapping. After July, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Interim Regulations on the Management of Traceability of Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Steam Battery”, which required the establishment of a traceability management platform to collect information on the whole process of production, sales, use, scrapping, recycling and utilization of power batteries. The main body fulfills the monitoring of the responsibility for recycling. At present, the power battery traceability management platform is officially in operation, with a transition period of one year.
